Starting to write electromagnetism section... Please offer comments/modifications to outline. Are there topics that you would like to see covered? Not covered? Bill

Here is my proposed outline for a discussion of EM theory... It's a working plan, so feel free to modify it.

I'm easy about where the maths intro goes. I can cobble together an outline for a Maths section as a starting point.. I am just not sure where it would be appropriate to start (Basic algebra, trigonometry, analysis, calculus???) Bill 31 May 2005

Why not start with calculus? It seems to me that a lot of the problems people run into on the forum stem from a lack of a proper understanding of calculus. Introducing the basic concepts shouldn't take long. Chris Russell 13:03, 31 May 2005 (EDT)

Sounds good. I'll be away (and offline) for the next few days, but I plan to start assembling the first sections on EM Theory in the meantime as well as some notes on calculus. Also, I have moved the mathematics for EM theory into a set of appendices.. This is often how textbooks present the material so it doesn't "steal" the thunder from the main text. I intend these mathematical appendices to be geared to EM theory; i.e. it does not preclude a more in-depth discussion of these topics in a separate "Mathematics" section of the Wiki..
