Interrupter

From HvWiki

A device used to "interrupt" the drive circuits of a SSTC/DRSSTC at pre-determined intervals. An interrupter is usually used to limit current in the primary drive circuit, or change the streamer appearance. In a VTTC, it is commonly called a "Stacatto" Controller. Interrupters run at frequencies significantly lower than the resonant frequency of the coil, often in the lower audio range (50 - 200Hz). Duty cycles can vary from a few % for DRSSTs upto 100% in SSTCs. Duty cycles above some 75% change the streamer appearance marginally.
