Nikola Tesla
From HvWiki
Nikola Tesla (1856-1943) was one of greatest contributors to modern electricity of all time. He pioneered the rollout of AC electricity into homes and business by developing the first induction motor and the AC long distance transmission system, worked to improve upon light bulb technology, and build a variety of power stations. He also pioneered many of the fundamental principles of wireless communication.
Of particular note was his creation of the 'Tesla coil' (Tesla Coils at HV Community), which uses a large air core transformer to produce low current high voltage discharge. His dream was to create a power transmission system without wires or cables, using RF (Radio Frequency) energy, produced by his coils, which formed the basis of his power transmission experiments. Amateurs all over the world now re-create his experiments as a hobby, referred to as 'Tesla Coiling', or more simply, 'Coiling.'
