Proper article title?

I'm not quite sure if Basic Electricity is the best name for this article, but it seems to be the Wiki should have an article with this content. Any thoughts? MattG

To me "electronic" doesn't sounds right, kind of like the article will talk about electronic devices. How does "Basic electrical theory" or "Basic electricity theory" sound?

Basic Electrical Theory. I think we should keep this page as a fuzzy sort of intro to what current, voltage and resistance are, and have links to more in-depth pages on current, voltage and resistance seperately. (Eg. a whole page discussing series and parallel resistors, power dissipation in resistors, types of resistor, resistor tolerances, etc, etc.)--Simon 20:23, 2 May 2005 (EDT)

Fine. Now, about the equations like "A = C / S". To me this says, "Area = Capacitance on, um, Selectivity?" If someone learns this and then sees E = V2C / 2 there's a real potential for confusion. I think we should stick to I = Q / t.--Simon 20:37, 5 May 2005 (EDT)


Why not call this page "Introduction to Electricity"? Basic Electrical/Electronic Theory is a vast subject and this page could serve as a gateway into more indepth articles on electrical and electronic circuits (which usually require models somewhat different to the Water Analogy).

Also, I think a general consensus on variable names would be good... Given that there will be many authors collaborating, it would help continuity if, for example, R1 was resistance, Cx was capacitance, etc... Should we draw up a set of uniform guidelines on variable names for electrical/mechanical quantities? Bill 31 May, 2005
